1. The major reasons for TPM failure in the organization are easy to detect. Lack of wholehearted support from the top management, lack of dedication and enthusiasm from the employee (they feel that all this is not going to work and just a waste of time and it is just another whim from the management), lack of discipline is one of the major causes.

2. It has found that middle management consisting of supervisors, middle managers, and even some of the lead people feed threatened in their jobs because of the changes. This problem is basically one of not getting adjusted to change the culture. The best remedy to such problems is to offer these entire employees a short course on change management and show them the advantage of sharing their knowledge and responsibility with the production operators.

3. For a year the maintenance department has been doing the maintenance work and is better known as repairing gang. The TPM philosophy implies that the equipment operator should do normal maintenance work on equipment. Some of the maintenance personal feel that revealing all technical secrets to the operator will endanger their job or their importance in the organization will be reduced. Of course, this is not true. It is the job of the coordinator to emphasis that under the new way of conducting maintenance, the more the operator gets involved in regular maintenance of equipment, the better the technician can apply their experience and expertise to a high level of operation in maintenance. These tasks include equipment reengineering, predictive maintenance, work area redesigning, improvement in the installation and facilities.

4. Finally the production, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel should be explained and convinced that implementing TPM will not be an extra burden to their regular function but ultimately will ease their task and will be an aid to quickly achieve their targets.

5. Most failed TPM initiatives never had these goals. Hence these efforts never achieved the desired result and TPM was considered as a failure.
